Geography
Japan's geography is known for being very dense with 70% of the Japanese population living in urban areas. In Tokyo, the most populous prefecture in Japan, and where a GoPro retail store would most likely reside, the population density is 6,029 persons per square kilometer.
Another notable feature of Japan's geography is their mountainous terrain. Mountains cover nearly 80% of Japan's topography, which would align with the active lifestyle GoPro stands for. However, active winter sports like skiing and snowboarding are not a normal pastime for the typical Japanese citizen.
Finally, Japan is a highly earth-quake prone country. Though most earthquakes are minor and do not have a significant impact on Japanese businesses, more substantial earthquakes do have a negative impact on the economy as supplier prices and consumer behaviors fluctuate.
